The American Cancer Society estimates that this year alone approximately 1.5 million people in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer. An estimated 51,000 of those will come from Michigan. In Antrim County between 2000 and 2004, approximately 158 people battled cancer.

BELLAIRE-Bellaire business owner Becky Folker spent a lot of time and money getting her new shop Sassy Sunflower up and running this spring, so when the Antrim County Building Department suddenly told her, at the last minute, that

Currently there are over 400 women in Antrim County who qualify to get free mammograms through the Antrim County High Tea for Breast Cancer Prevention program, and co-founder Dee Lynch, of Bellaire, intends to make sure that every single one of those women gets one.

In their regularly scheduled meeting last Wednesday, the Bellaire Village Council approved the purchase of surveillance cameras for both Richardi Park and downtown, despite the fact that Police Chief Brad Rowe was against the idea.
